As part of the humanitarian activity and support for medical and women’s health, the Innoson group has supported the Onyebuchi Chris Ifediora (OCI) foundation’s fight against breast and cervical cancer with a 7-seater IVM vehicle.
The IVM G-20 Smart Vehicle was purchased by the OCI Foundation at an immensely substantive discount from the IVM Company in Nnewi, Anambra state.
The Chief Executive Officer of the INNOSON Group, Chief Innocent Chukwuma who spoke during the handover ceremony, extolled the effort of the foundation in combating breast and cervical cancer in the country.
He said, “This type of foundation is a foundation that everyone should support because what they do is to save lives; theirs is truly service to God and humanity. Thank you for taking the time to fight against this silent killer disease and we will continue to support this cause”.
In 2019, the World Health Organisation(WHO) recorded that a total of 41,000 Nigerians were killed by cancer in 2018. Another research further recorded that, in Nigeria, female breast cancer is recognized as a major cause of morbidity and mortality with incidence rate ranging from 36.3 to 50.2/100,000 live birth.
The keys and documents of the bus were presented to Foundation’s Legal Adviser, Mr. Ononye Onyechi, who represented the foundation’s president, Dr. Chris Ifediora. Mr. Onyechi, expressed the willingness of the foundation to acquire more vehicles before the end of 2020.
“This, and other vehicles to come, will assist the Foundation in the task of reaching out to all Nigerians, as we spread our novel, evidence-based, Harvard-endorsed, and WHO-supported anti-breast and Anti-cervical cancer messages across the country.
“The Foundation’s ‘Arm Our Youths’ (ArOY) Health’ Campaign encapsulates this message and is already functional as part of the curriculum in all senior secondary schools in Anambra.
“Advanced plans are also underway to roll out the ArOY Campaign across all schools in Benue and Gombe states soon as the COVID-19 lockdown is fully eased in Nigeria,” he disclosed.
The event was heralded with the presentation of the OCI Foundation’s branded face masks to Innoson Group in appreciation of their gesture.
