Insecurity: CDS Urges Communities To Support Ongoing Military Operations

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, has pleaded with communities in the North West to support the military in its ongoing operations to rid the zone of activities of bandits and other criminals which has resulted in the loss of lives and property.

Olonisakin made the call during the inauguration of some community projects undertaken by the Defence Headquarters in some local government areas of Katsina State.

The CDS, represented by the acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Sokoto, Brig.-Gen. Aminu Bande, said that the projects were executed to support the basic infrastructure and welfare needs of the communities.

“In building these infrastructures for the locals, the Defence Headquarters has not only ameliorated the plight of the communities but also lived up to its Corporate Social Responsibility, for which the military is noted in its areas of core competence in civil-military relations.

military will continue to do its bit not only in the area of supporting the civil populace in protecting lives and property, but also to improve the standard of their welfare.

“Let me also use this opportunity to call for the support of locals in our various operations to clear bandits and other criminal elements in Katsina state and indeed the entire Northwest zone.

“Everybody should be assured that the military will end this banditry with your support to its operations; now all hands are on deck to end this banditry soon,” he said.

The projects included boreholes drilled at Rahamawa, Tudun-matawalle and Tudun-natsinta, all in Katsina local government area.

The CDS also laid the foundation for the construction of a dispensary at Makasauro, Daura Local Government Area, and boreholes at Mazoji and Gabasawa, also in Daura, as well as another in Danja Local Government Area.
