Shocking!: Six-Year-Old Girl Tests Positive For COVID-19

A six-year-old girl, daughter of the index case in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State, has been tested positive for COVID-19. This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Health and Chairman of the Task Force on COVID-19 in Jigawa State, Dr. Abba Zakari, in Dutse.

His words: “The girl’s father is the index case in Kazaure and was confirmed to be Coronavirus positive upon his arrival to Kazaure from Enugu State.”

According to the commissioner, out of the total number of 18 samples collected in the contact tracing of the Kazaure index case, only the little girl’s sample turned out to be positive.

He said the girl would soon be evacuated and will join her father at the isolation centre in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital,adding that 32 new cases have been confirmed in Jigawa State.

This brings the total number of infected persons in the state to 72, Anaedoonline reports.

Nigeria recorded 148 new cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, bringing the country’s total infections to 2,950.

In another news,The chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, Raymond Dokpesi Jnr has tested positive for COVID-19.

AIT reported on Monday, April 27th evening that Dokpesi sent a short message to members of staff in Abuja to inform them of his status and urged those who came in contact with him to get tested as well.

He was said to have been self-isolating in the past week before he developed malaria symptoms and started coughing.

He reportedly contacted the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for a COVID-19 test which came back positive.

The chairman, who is said not to have a recent travel history, advised those who have interacted with him lately to get tested.

“I got a call this morning confirming the result is COVID-19 positive. I am leaving now to the Gwagwalada Isolation Centre for treatment and hope to be back in two weeks. Many of you may have interacted with me during our various meetings and I would advise you to get tested as soon as possible,” the message read.
