The new coronavirus drug, remdwsivir, which is under clinical trial may reduce the sperm count in mice, a preliminary finding by Chinese researchers reveal.
In a research and study conducted by Shenzhen Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital and Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital, It was revealed that the drug manufactured by Gilead Sciences Inc. was injected into 28 males and their sperm count and motility became low.
According to the study, there were also an increased number of abnormalities in the sperm.
The study has not been peer reviewed, but was published on the biology pre-print website operated by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

Meanwhile, China said it plans to announce the results from the clinical tests which was conducted in Wuhan on Monday.
However, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) yesterday, April 26, confirmed Nigeria recorded another 91 new cases of Covid-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus and five deaths in fifteen states and Abuja, the country capital, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 1273 and 40 deaths.
This was revealed through the twitter account of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Sunday night.
The reported new cases are spread across Lagos, Sokoto, Taraba, Kaduna, Gombe, Ondo, Osun, Kebbi, Edo, Oyo, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Akwa-Ibom, Rivers and Bauchi states as well as Abuja, the country capital.
