In what could snowball into full confrontation, soldiers clashed with some civilians as they tried to enforce the lockdown currently directed by governor Hope Uzodinma.

Sources who went around the state capital witnessed some disturbing incidences between the soldiers and traders.

At Douglas Road, traders and other passersby’s scampereg for safety as the soldiers unleash different punishments on the victims

While some are made to lie flat on their backs, others were to frog – Jump while others were flogged.

At Tetlow road, drivers of commercial vehicles especially the busimo, stood bemoaning their fate as their tyres were deflected by the soldiers.

A commercial driver who gave his name as Ignatius said the soldiers punctured his four tyres describing it as inhuman.

According to him, most of them are on hire purchase and must make deposits while their families depend on their daily income for survival.

They appealed to governor Uzodinma to call the security agencies to order as their actions are rubbishing his administration.

They equally advised the governor to define the mode of his curfew and Lockdown saying locking people indoors for 24hours without food is not the best way to handle the COVID-19 pandemic.

In another story,Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has commended Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo for being proactive in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Ihekweazu spoke on Saturday when he inspected facilities on the ground for the containment of the coronavirus if detected.

He said his team was in Imo for a firsthand understanding of the structures the state had put in place for the battle
against the coronavirus.
