Fire At Accountant General Office Suspicious- Fani-Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has described as ‘suspicious, the fire incident at the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation in Abuja.

It was reported that some rooms at the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation in Abuja popularly known as Treasure House caught fire on Wednesday morning.

There were insinuations that the incident was ‘Fishy’ especially as the cause of the inferno is still unknown.

Reacting, Fani-Kayode on Twitter wrote, “The Accountant General’s office has been burnt? Sounds very suspicious to me. Is someone
trying to cover up something? Time will tell.

“Explain how you distributed 2 trillion naira to the poor. We need names, how you arrived at your database & the demographic spread”- NASS to FGN.

“9 hours later office of the Acct-General is engulfed by fire!”

Anaedonline reported that Minister of State for Finance, Clem Agba, has said the federal government would investigate the cause of the fire outbreak that occurred on Wednesday at the Treasury House, Abuja, which houses the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

Agba said this while briefing the press at the scene of incident on Wednesday.

“Our records are intact. But we will still investigate the fire to find out whether it was due to electrical spark or if it was induced. I have only told you what I have been told,” he said.

He said the fire happened inside an office on the third floor.

A staff came in and put on the generator and there was a spark. But all our records are intact,” said Agba.

However, The Federal Fire Service says the fire which occurred on Wednesday morning at the Treasury House, headquarters of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, has been extinguished.

The building is located beside the Federal Capital Territory FCT Police Command in Garki, Abuja.
