Economic Hardship: Nigeria's problem not from God - Shehu Sani

Coronavirus : Sen. Sani Reacts As, Security Agencies Harass Nigerians

by AnaedoOnline

Former Kaduna lawmaker Shehu Sani has reacted to a viral video of the Nigerian Military allegedly harassing Nigerians while implementing the COVID-19 stay at home order.

Sani appealed to security agents to stop harassing poor people on the streets while enforcing lockdown orders.

On his Twitter page, the former lawmaker wrote: ” To our overzealous security agents; Stop whipping the poor people in the streets because of COVIDー19 since you couldn’t whip those from the Airports.

Sani added that until a vaccine is provided for COVID-19 the measures being taken by the federal government are superficial.

“Until a vaccine for the virus is discovered, mass-produced and distributed globally, any measure is taken now is superficial.

“When you lockdown, you slow the spread, when you lift the lockdown, it continues from where it stopped,” Sani tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters on Wednesday urged the general public to disregard torture videos being circulated on social media.

Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, in a statement on Thursday, said that the videos were planted in order to tarnish the image of the Military.

There are 174 recorded cases of coronavirus in Nigeria as of Thursday.

The federal and Lagos state governments have banned public gatherings for a period, in order to halt the spread of the coronavirus in Africa’s most populous nation.

Churches, mosques, clubs, and bars have been asked to shutter services, movement of persons has been halted, and government enforcement teams have been driving round locked downtowns to monitor compliance.

General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and leader of the state’s task-force, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, said her team spotted the Muslim faithful observing their evening prayer (Solatul Eshai) in a large congregation, contrary to the directive on total lockdown issued recently.
