COVID-19: NSCDC To Intensify Awareness

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps boss said his personnel will visit churches, mosques, motor parks, markets, villages and public squares and other places that people are found in numbers to spread the information on self protection.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu, the NSCDC state Commandant, Everestus Obiyo, said that the personnel would also patrol all the nooks and crannies of the state to sensitize the public on the importance of personal hygiene and other related preventive measures.

“My personnel are to patrol all the nooks and crannies of the State educating and enlightening the people to observe personal hygiene,maintain reasonable distance, avoid crowded places, ensure that their household stays indoor as much as possible, and as well report any health condition that is unusual to the nearest health facility as quickly as possible” Obiyo said.

He warned bus drivers, tricycle riders and city cab operators to obey the guidelines set by the state government as the corps is prepared to arrest defaulters to serve as deterrent to others.

He also asked civil servants in the state to henceforth work from home all in the bid to ensure that the state is safe from the virus.

The NSCDC, Enugu State Command has deployed 245 personnel to ensure total compliance to all preventive measures initiated by the state government against in its bid to tackle the COVID-19.

It will be recalled that governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, in a state-wide broadcast on Tuesday ordered the immediate suspension of all social activities and the closure of all academic institutions. COVID-19

The Enugu State Government, on Tuesday, banned all forms of social and political gatherings over coronavirus.

The ban was announced by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the State a dusk state-wide broadcast at the Enugu Government House.
