COVID 19: Vice President Osinbajo Goes Into Self-Isolation

Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has gone into self-isolation following the measures recommended by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID 19).

According to Laolu Akande, the media aide to the vice president, Osinbajo went into self-isolation after the Chief of Staff to President Muhammdu Buhari, Abba Kyari tested positive for Coronavirus on Monday.

Osinbajo has had several contacts with Kyari since he returned from Germany on 14 March where he contracted the virus.

It was gathered on Tuesday that the vice president, as a precautionary, measure went into self-isolation Monday night immediately he was informed of Kyari’s test result.

Also, three aides to Kyari have reportedly tested positive for coronavirus after coming in contact with their boss. There are also alleged fears that billionaire Aliko Dangote might have contacted the virus after coming in contact with Abba Kyari and Bauchi State Governor over the weekend.

As of Tuesday evening, the NCDC has confirmed 44 cases of coronavirus in Nigeria which includes Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State. Also, one death has been recorded so far since the virus broke out in Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari, however, tested negative for coronavirus.
