The name Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha is a household name in the Nigeria movie industry. An award winning actress, film producer and director.
Mrs Akpotha was born on the 12th of March 1980 in Oraifite, Anambra State Nigeria to Mr. Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka and Grace Egoyibo Chukwuka.
She completed her primary education at Onward Nursery and Primary School in Lagos State and then proceeded to Federal Government Girls College in Onitsha, Anambra State for her secondary education after which she then headed to Lagos State University where she studied a degree in Banking and Finance.
With pure talent, sheer aptitude and a passion for acting, Mrs. Akpotha made her acting debut in 2000 with the movie “The Apple” where she acted as an obstinate 17-year old who felt she was sufficiently matured for marriage.
She got married secretly several years ago to her handsome Franklin Akpotha and together they are blessed with two kids.
She went on to make an indelible stamp in the industry and the hearts of the Nollywood fan base. She is best known for her ability to encapsulate the persona of the characters she plays in her movies bringing credibility to her roles.

With a career, which has spanned almost two decades with over 350 acting & 6 production to her credits, she has won numerous awards in recognition of her excellent performances, including the best actress in a lead role award at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for the movie ‘sins of the flesh’ and the best actress in a lead role award at the Afro Hollywood Awards in London.
The award-winning actress is also a public speaker and mentors the youth as much as she can even beyond the confines of acting.
She recently launched a capacity-building platform called Masterclass With Chioma (masterclasschioma.com) where aspiring talents especially actors are taught by seasoned filmmakers, screenwriters, actors and other industry professionals on what it takes to make it in film, TV, and theatre.

That same year, On Bended Knees, was nominated for Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards. Best Cinematography nominee at the Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards and Best Actress nominee at the Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards.
