The Court of Appeal in Abuja has reserved judgement in the appeal filed by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), challenging his sack as the lawmaker representing Anambra South.
A three-man panel, led by Justice Stephen Adah, on Thursday said the date for judgement in the appeal would be communicated to the parties in the suit after they adopted their written addresses.
A lower court had ordered Ubah’s removal from office.

While adopting his written address, counsel to the Senator, Onyeachi Ikpeazu, prayed the court to allow the appeal and set aside the judgement of the lower court.
The respondents are Anani Chuka, YPP, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obinna Uzoh.
While adopting their written addresses, the respondents prayed the court to dismiss the appeal in its entirety.
Justice Bello Kawu had on January 17 affirmed his order which nullified Ubah’s election on the ground that he allegedly used a forged National Examination Council (NECO) certificate to contest the senatorial election held in Anambra South on February 23, 2019.
The court on April 11, 2019, ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return it issued to Ubah and issue a fresh one to Uzoh who came second in the election.
Dissatisfied, Ubah approached the Court of Appeal on four grounds to set aside the judgement which he insists occasioned grave miscarriage of justice against him.
