Nigerian With Coronavirus In U.S Didn’t Get Infection In Nigeria – NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control Nigerian(NCDC) says the Nigerian who tested positive for Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the U.S. likely contracted the disease outside Nigeria.

The NCDC disclosed this in a tweet on its Twitter handle on Sunday.

The agency was reacting to a report of a Nigerian who tested positive for coronavirus in the United States.

It noted that the patient’s travel history shows that the likelihood of getting infected in Nigeria is very low.

The Nigerian health agency tweeted on its twitter handle @NCDCgov at 8:54 PM on Sunday that it is already in touch with the Centre for Disease Control and the U.S. CDC, Nigeria.

“We are in touch with @CDCgov & @USCDCNIGERIA on the #COVID19 positive case in Washington, of Nigerian origin.

” The patient’s travel history shows that the likelihood of his infection while in Nigeria is very low,” it said.

Turkish Airlines has announced the cancellation of flights to Nigeria over Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The airline disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday after operators of the airline were accused of bringing in the Italian who tested positive for coronavirus on February 27 in Lagos.

The airline said in the statement that all flight scheduled to arrive Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt had been canceled by its management.

The airline further revealed that the suspension would begin for flights scheduled for Lagos on March 17, 23 and 29.

Flights scheduled for Abuja would commence its suspension on March 13, 16, 20, 25, 27 and April 1.

According to the Turkish Airline, flights scheduled to land in Porth-Harcourt would be cancelled from March 11, 13, 18 and 25.

The operators said that the move was part of its effort to contain the pandemic.

The Ministry of Health had on Monday confirmed a second case of the coronavirus in Nigeria. According to the ministry, the infected person had contact with the Italian who first tested positive.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease and Control (NCDC) had on Sunday said a total of 26 suspected cases were identified in five states, including Lagos, FCT, Kano and Ogun.
