The Imo State chapter of the Peoples democratic party on Thursday aforesaid it had expelled the former senator of the imo East senatorial district (Owerri), Samuel Anyanwu.

In an advertisement captioned, Expulsion of senator Samuel Anyanwu,’ in one amongst the state tabloid addressed to the National Chairman of the party, dated March 5, 2020, the state Secretary of the party, Nze Ray Emeana, aforesaid his expulsion took effect from Monday, October 28, 2019.

The advert partially read, “It was sequel to conclusive disciplinary procedure to the current result by his Amaimo ward and also the Ikeduru local government area of the party also as the subsequent ratification by the imo West senatorial zone executive and also the state working committee.”

When contacted, Anyanwu said he has never appeared in any disciplinary committee.

According to him “This is an evil plan to undermine me. The perpetrators needed to edge me out from the forthcoming PDP congress. They forgot thus shortly however the PDP was dead within the state and the way I revived it with my cash.

‘I was the first to declare my intention to run the governorship position in the state under the party’s platform. I revived the PDP within the state with my cash. As a national officer and member of the National executive Committee, the state cannot expel me from the party without the clearance from the national secretariat.”
Recently, Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State, Mr.Charles Babatunde Ezekwem resigned his position.

Suspicion, questionable loyalty, years of political hide and seek may be some of the cumulative factors which might have prompted the resignation of Mr. Ezekwem, as State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State.

Ezekwem resigned at a time the PDP in Imo State is in “mourning period” over the dramatic loss of the governorship of the State.
