BBNaija 2017 Housemates: Where They Are, What They’re Up To

The Big Brother Naija 2017 produced mouthwatering sparks. Viewers watched week in and week out, voted week in and week out, argued week in and week out and finally partook in the joys and defeats of the housemates they supported.

14 contestants (including 2 pseudo housemates) fought for the N25 million grand prize but at the end of the day, one person walked home with it. Well, it’s been more than two years the show ended, and BBnaija 2018 and 2019 have come and gone too. But we will like to revisit the lives of these contestants that gave us sleepless nights and see what they are up to now.

1. Miyonse Oluwaseyi Amosu

Miyonse is doing great after live in Big Brother Naija. Miyonse who was one of the first contestants to be evicted from the house was shocked when he found out that his  ‘lover’ in the house, TBoss, was one of the people that put him up for eviction.

He has graduated to be a top chef in Nigeria. Currently, he is the Brand Ambassador for Indomie Noodles,  SamVita Foods and Ajinomoto. This is not surprising though because he stated during the show that he loves culinary activities. Miyonse is not dreaming to become a top chef anymore, he is already one.

2. Mojisola Serah Sowole

Her stage name is Cocoice. She was evicted on day 21 in the BBnaija 2017 becoming the third house-mate to be evicted. The highlight of her participation and stay in the house was winning the tasks to become the Head Of House, a feat which allowed for her to be addressed as “Igwe CocoIce”, a title that she is addressed by her huge local and international fans till date.

She also drew attention to herself when she gladly allowed her breast to be sucked by a fellow housemate on the show.

Before she came to the house, she said she had released songs that clinched many awards. After the BBnaija 2017, it is difficult to know if Cocoice has carved a niche for herself. Her bio on Instagram says Rapper, Entrepreneur, Creative Media, Content, Business, Organic Skincare. Cocoice is everywhere.

3. Somadina Anyama

Soma, as he was fondly called in the house, has had a bitter taste of fame after lasting only two weeks in the BBN house. He is currently living his dream, however. Prior to his stay at the BBnaija house in 2017, he was a songwriter and singer. After the 2017 Big Brother Naija, Soma became an actor. He currently plays Dave at the African Magic Sitcom ‘My Siblings and I’. He is also an ambassador for Payporte Nigeria. He is a model

4. Gifty Brian Ajumobi

After the 2017 BBnaija, Gifty created an empire and she is occupying it exclusively. Gifty was already married to David SoroChukwu Akumah even while in the Big Brother House.  Gifty who was often considered to be one of the most controversial housemates on the show was evicted after a month in the Big Brother House but has since kept people talking about her with her controversial statements and curvy pictures which she keeps updating on social media.

Her bio On Instagram says she’s the CEO of Gifty Powers Empire. She is currently appearing on music videos and has premiered in some movies. She’s an all-round entertainer and life is looking good for her.

5. Uriel Anita Oputa

She’s not the daughter of Late Justice Oputa, that you probably know. After her eviction in day 42, Uriel has been enjoying the glamour of being a celebrity. She is doing well for herself as a model and a singer.  She revealed after her eviction while thanking her fans for their support that she suffered from Dyslexia, a disorder that makes reading, writing and spelling difficult.

Uriel’s mother was also recently discovered to be suffering from cancer  but has now  been declared free of the disease according to the former BBNaija housemate

6. “ThinTallTony” Anthony

Of course, ThinTallTony is just a moniker. His real name is Offiong Edet Anthony. When he was evicted on the show he went back to his wife and kids he earlier denied. Tony caused a stir on the show when he started dating Bisola without letting on that he was married.

ThinTallTony is a box of talent. If we can go by what he wrote on his Instagram page, He is now a model, an event host, and an idea builder. The man is incredibly talented and has gone on to achieve great things.

7. Ekemini “Kemen” Ekerette

Just call him Kemen. His eviction was hotly debated in the media for weeks. But his eviction taught many Nigerians the meaning of consent.  Kemen was disqualified from the reality show after he was found guilty of touching Tboss inappropriately without her consent. Kemen recently admitted that it has not been easy for him to move on from the BBN drama but things are now working in his favour.

However, the show was his platform and his fame and career launched after that.  He is a fitness builder and a model.  His career and fame have skyrocketed as he recently appeared in the television sitcom “My Flatmates”.

8. Bally Balat

Bally who is known as one of the cool-headed housemates had a brawl with Tboss in the house which showed people another side of him. Bally was born with a silver spoon, being the son of late Senator Isaiah Chawai Balat, a politician and businessman from Kaduna State who died in 2014.

He worked as as a Statistician in Nigerian Ports Authority, Marina and owns a digital content creation company.  The dashing statistician is also versed Disc Jockey known as DJ Bally.

9. Marvis Nkpornwi

Marvis was the firecracker of the 2017  Big Brother Naija. She was loved, full of life and always at the center of any fun activity. Her charisma and wit earned her a huge supporter-ship, which translated into her being among the finalists of the reality television game show.

Marvis was a princess and during her stay in the house, she had a Cinderella story with one of the housemates, Efe who went on to win the BBN 2017 show. She’s enjoying royalty and she is modeling too. She recently released her debut EP.  A girl has many talents

10. Bassey Ekpenyong

Bassey is the younger brother of super ace Broadcaster Effiong Ekpenyong popularly known as Double E. The University of Calabar graduate was one of the prim and proper contestants in the show, however, he took up a close relationship with another housemate Debbie Rise. He has maximized the exposure Big Brother Naija served him by moving to Lagos to pursue his goals.

Before Big Brother Naija;  He had starred in popular TV shows, movies, commercials including the popular Gold circle advert. Bassey is doing pretty well even after the reality show. He has been hosting events and has returned to acting as before.

11. Deborah Ebun

Popularly known as Debbie Rise, she was one of the two housemates introduced in the middle of the show. She caused a scandal after the show by criticising Efe’s music career on social media which culminated in her having to do a video apologising to Efe and his fan base.

Before her Big Brother Naija days, she already had some success on the Nigerian Idol. We are all hoping one day that Debbie-rise will rise to be a top artist. She has many talents. Till then, she is just performing and waiting for her big break.

12. Tokunbo Idowu

Tboss needs no introduction. She was hated by many and loved by many. She has been able to leverage her popularity on the show to build a fanbase called Boss Nation. The biracial personality is enjoying fame but no one knows if she is burning 25 million weekly as she alluded to during the show when she was asked how she would spend the 25 million if she won, she responded: “I will spend it in a week”.

What is she up to now? Well, a lady who made three men leave the BBnaija house shouldn’t be trifled with. She is modeling and acting. She recently starred in a movie “Up North” that featured Banky W and she welcomed a baby in 2019 as well.

13. Bisola Aiyeola

Analysts will say she’s the most successful out of all her mates. Bisola, the 1st runner up of the show has been something of a busy bee. While many of her peers have gone under, Bisola, mother of one, seems to be growing stronger having recently won the Trailblazer Award at the 2018 AMVCA

Having been body-shamed while in the Big Brother house a number of times and called ‘buck teeth’ amongst other names, she has now rearranged her dentition by wearing braces in order to have a great set of teeth that befits her status as a celebrity.

She’s the Ambassador for One.org an international NGO, she’s an actress, She’s a Singer.  Her accomplishments since Big Brother Naija are extraordinary.

14. Michael “Efe” Ejeba

The holy writ says the first shall be the last. During the grand finale, Efe pulled a wide 57.61 percent of the votes cast to beat his closest rival, Bisola, who got 18.54 percent of the votes making him the winner of the show.

He was also best known for his favourite slang “Based on logistics”. For Efe, so much was expected from him but after the show, he is still struggling to pick one career path. He has released a couple of songs and they are not even causing a stir or a ripple effect. His fans have not given up on him. His big break will come, maybe this year or next year.
