A Brothel located at Ezekwuabo Otolo Nnewi close to St. Thomas Anglican Church (Akwudo) called Padded Joint has been closed down by Nnewi Community Leadership.
The President of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Hon. Sir Ugochukwu Udemezu with his Executive members in collaboration with Nnewi Vigilante Service raided the brothel, in a bid to arrest the sex workers, using the brothel.
Speaking to Anaedoonline, the Publicity Secretary of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Sir Augustine Ikeh confirmed that the raid was necessary, following reports that the owner was renovating the brothel, after the fire outbreak that caused lots of damages, which also resulted to loss of lives of three girls said to be sex workers, working in the brothel.
According to him, when they got reports of the ongoing renovation of the brothel, the community leaders decided to move into the brothel and ensure that it was closed down.
He said that on arrival at the brothel, they arrested one of the prostitutes while others took to their heels.
After serious investigation, they visited the residence of the brothel owner, who was also arrested.

Both the prostitute and the owner of the brothel has been handed over to the Nigerian Police.
It will be recalled that on 18th October 2019, Anaedoonline reported that the brothel caught fire in the early morning hours of 3:00 am, killing three ladies.
According to an eye witness who pleaded anonymity, the owner of the brothel who is a woman (name not known yet) fondly called “Obodo Umu Anumanu, a native of Ndimgbu in Otolo but married in Mbanagu-Otolo was said to have closed the motel apartment where the three girls slept before leaving for her house last night before the fire outbreak.
According to another eyewitness, it is a normal occurrence for her to close the apartment and go home with the keys even if there are girls that did not go out that night for their usual business. The three girls could not escape because the rooms were locked and there was no way exit as at that time.
