CTWSS is known for its excellence, quality education and strict moral upbringing of its students which is significant in the foundation of the school. Below is a brief history of

Christ the Way Secondary School came into existence through the collaborative efforts of Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Christ the Way Community, Very Rev. Fr. Patrick Anichebe Ezeobata (the Episcopal Vicar Nnewi Region/Parish Priest St. John Cross Nnewi), Mr. Paul Ezenwanne (the Coordinator) and their team in the year 1994.

The secondary School came in mind when the burden to store and preserve the brilliant brains of the Christ the Way Primary School Pupils arose in 1993.

Despite the tireless efforts of the committee in upgrading the Primary School to Primary Six Level, external relentless efforts were gathered through P.T.D, the School proceeds and Christ the Way Community.

More so, through the influence of Bro. Paul Ezenwanne, the Udezuka Community Bank started granting the school overdraft facilities.

It was this measure that made it possible for an emergency and temporary Secondary School block to be constructed and those brains (Primary Six Pupils) were fixed in J.S.S.1 in the 1994/1995 academic year.

Before this time, the committee has been indebted so much through the loans from its members and other sources. But with the advent of the Bank’s overdraft facilities, Christ the Way Community heaved a sigh of relief on indebtedness and sat back to liquidate most of the loans borrowed.

In 1995, provision was made for a permanent site by the Parish Priest, Very Rev. Msgr Patrick Anichebe Ezeobata, and the then Episcopal for Nnewi Region through the Parish Council, for the building of the Secondary Block.

The First Foundation laying stone for Christ the Way Secondary School was done on the 16th day of March 1995. The site remains its permanent place till today.

After the foundation laying, work stopped at the D.P.C due to lack of funds. Then, the School Management and PTD organized a launching ceremony which its success was prevented by a heavy downpour on the 6th day of October 1995.

But by the grace of God, in 1995 and 1996, a gradual but steady work took place and the two floors of the Secondary School block was decked.

After this, an appeal was made during the 10th Graduation Ceremony of the Primary School pupils held in October 1996 for the Completion of the Secondary School building.

With the help of the appeal and graduation proceeds including other proceeds from P.T.D and bank overdraft facilities, the top floor of the Secondary School building was completed in 1997. To date, the top floor of the building has been for students’ examination Hall.

When the students sat for their Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination in the 1996/97 academic year, there arose another need for upgrading the college to a Senior Secondary Level so as to register and sit for Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) in 1999/2000 academic year.

Due to the expensive requirement and finance involved in the upgrading of the College, the committee decided to stop at the Junior Secondary level, but the Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. P.A. Ezeobata encouraged the committee to go on with the project without giving up. His encouragement propelled the committee to continue the task of upgrading the college.

The Parish Priest made so many consultations to so many personalities for finance and the way forward. Very Rev. Fr. Dr. P.A. Ezeobata was transferred from the Parish after the first term of the pioneer S.S.1 students in 1997.But Bro. Paul Ezenwanne, the Co-ordinator kept the ball rolling through a continual consultation to Very Rev Fr. Dr. P.A. Ezeobata in conjunction with the incumbent Parish Priest by name Rev Fr. Gregory Ezeanya under whose regime the acquisition of the requirement and approval of the school was made and achieved.

As the school increased in both size and numerical strength, there arose the need for more classroom blocks to accommodate the students. Consequently, under Rev. Fr. Benedict Onwudinjo, the construction of a second Secondary School block, adjacent to the first one started.

The three-storey building is completed and classes commenced therein.
Special thanks must go to Udezuka Community Bank which gave the management liberal loans to enable her to complete the school’s blocks.

The Cooperation of all the Parish Priests and committee of the school was not lacking at every stage of the development of Christ The Way Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi. God bless all of you immensely.

By God’s grace, the School has continued to maintain a very high academic and moral standard from inception to date.
