Ahead of the 2023 Presidential Election, Southeast Governors and Senators have been urged to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to actualize Igbo Presidency.

The call was made on Saturday, October 26, 2019, by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide through a statement jointly signed by the group’s President General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Secretary-General, Okwu Nnabuike.

The group is seeking for the defection of at least two Southeast Governors and some key Senators.

According to the group, it is time for Southeast Politicians to look at the direction of All Progressive Congress (APC) than that of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Part of the statement reads;

“At least with three South East PDP Governors and two South East APC Governors before first quarter of 2021, Igbo stand a chance for presidency”

The group noted that plans are underway to ensure the defection of these Governors and Senators, assuring that talks are already ongoing with power brokers in the region to make the defections a reality ahead of the quest to have an Igbo President in 2023.
