You will recall that we reported the statement of a Former Nnewi North Local Govt council Chairman, Mr. Martin Okafor, where he condemned the zoning arrangement that was introduced into Nnewichi Polity.

It seems as if Mr. Martin Okafor is not the only Nnewichi Stakeholder who is not comfortable with the Zoning arrangement as would be deciphered from Hon CY Okolo’s reaction to the zoning arrangement.

Speaking to Anaedoonline.com, Hon CY Okolo who was visibly bold on his stance said that the zoning agreement claim was politically motivated.

He said “Initially we made the necessary preparation for zoning by setting up a committee on zoning which had all the quarters represented, because of the realities on ground then, we decided to step down the issue in order to allow all the quarters and candidates participate in the election because you cannot change the goal post when the match is on. What we agreed was that after the election, we will then discuss on the zoning arrangement ”

Our decision to allow everyone to contest the election ensured that we had a good democratic process”
