Anambra Apc Reveals Plans To Take Over State In 2021
The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has said it plans to take over the state during the 2021 governorship poll.
The state APC acting chairman, Basil Ejidike, stated this at a press conference in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Saturday.
Anambra State is currently controlled by the All Progressives Grand Alliance. Ejidike said a political party was worthless if it could not win elections.
He said after appraising the party’s performance in the last general elections, it became clear that the APC had a lot to do in the state to win the 2021 governorship election and subsequent polls in the state.
Ejike said the party had decided to bring in old members and assign them roles for effective management of the party in the state.
He gave the names of such people as a former governor of the state, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Senator Ikechukwu Obiora, a former APC governorship aspirant in the state, Chief Obinna Uzor, among others.
Ejidike added that as part of measures to reposition the party in the state, it had concluded arrangements to convoke a conference to brainstorm on the way forward.
He said, “The idea is to see how we can redefine and reposition the party in the state. We must take over power in this state. We are in business and we must be serious. We can’t continue to be in opposition in the state.’’
While awaiting the report of a fact-finding committee inaugurated to investigate why the party performed poorly in the state in the last elections, Ejidike said the party would commence a tour of the state 21 Local Government Areas.
He added, “We shall also embark on tours of Federal Government projects in the state such as the second Niger Bridge, Enugu/Onitsha Expressway and Amichi/Uga Federal Government road. This has become necessary because we have observed that most Federal Government projects in the state were underreported and unknown to our people.’’
