News making the rounds is that the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has endorsed the Presidential aspiration of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in lieu of the party’s presidential candidate, Gen. John Gbor, for the February 16 election in Nigeria.

The source said it was not an easy call for the political party, as it was understood that Governor Willie Obiano is a strong supporter of Buhari, and, at various instances, demonstrated such inclination.

According to the source, APGA reasoned that APC in South East is a difficult market to sell, and that the distrust among the people is very glaring; adding that Atiku is a viable option, as his acceptance among Ndigbo in South East at recent campaigns, have shown.

In a swift reaction, APGA chairman in Anambra State, Sir Norbert Obi, said the story is not true.

He said that APGA, as 3rd largest political party in Nigeria, is contesting the 2019 general election to win, and that the party is not into alliance with PDP or APC.
