A middle aged man was this evening stabbed to death by a masquerade in the ongoing Afia Olu Nnewi festival.
According to eye witnesses, trouble started when some rival masquerade cult groups started quarrelling over territorial issues which led to a battle of weapons. In the process, a middle aged man who was yet to be identified was stabbed by a rival masquerade group.
According to an eye witness who preferred the condition of anonymity, the group suspected to be behind the murder of the young man, were seen around the popular Saint Mary’s junction with clubs bearing nails despite the presence of local vigilantes who were stationed at critical points of the.
As at press time the culprits are said to be at large, as the body of the deceased is said to have been deposited in an unknown morgue.
